I am a 2002 graduate of Pike Liberal Arts. Upon completing high school, I attended Troy University for 1 year. After that, with much heartache (ROLL TIDE), I transferred to Auburn University to pursue a degree in Agricultural Communications and Animals Sciences. I graduated with a B.S. in both in December of 2006. In August, 2007, I returned to Troy University to begin taking classes in Education. I completed my Masters in Secondary Science Education in December 2012.

I have a slightly diverse background in teaching. One month after graduating from Auburn University, I moved to Chevy Chase, MD, which is located 1 mile outside of Washington D.C., to be a youth development program coordinator. I loved getting to explore the city, and had the opportunity to be a certified tour guide for Washington D.C. In June of 2007, I decided I wanted to be closer to home, so I came back to Troy and taught preschool for 1 year. I then got a job as a Science teacher at Barbour County Middle School where I have taught for 3 years. I loved my students and the faculty at BCMS, however I am so glad that I have been afforded the opportunity to come "home" to Brundidge and am excited that I have the honor of teaching upper level sciences at PCHS! I am currently teaching Chemistry and Physical Science. I have been at PCHS for 5 years and LOVE IT!

I have been a member of the Brundidge and Pike County family since I was a mere Bulldog pup! I lived on Main Street and Dickert Circle as a small child, before moving to the "country" and attending Banks Schools from K-8th grade. I then transferred to Pike Liberal Arts and completed my high school experience, however many Friday nights I could be found in the stands cheering on the Bulldogs. I attended Troy State University before transferring to Auburn University to complete my degree in Animal Science and Agricultural Communications. While in college, I was on the Collegiate Meat Judging team as well as being in Collegiate 4-H and a Chi Omega. My true colors always showed on Saturdays though, Roll Tide! If you can't tell, I love football, especially PCHS and University of Alabama football. Upon graduating from Auburn, I moved to Washington D.C. where I worked as a youth development program assistant and certified tour guide. I loved it, however, it was too far from home for comfort, so I came home and taught preschool for a year. After that I began teaching science at Barbour County Middle School where I taught for 3 years before coming to PCHS. This year I will be teaching chemistry and physical science. I hope to inspire young scientists. I am also the Yearbook Sponsor! Five years ago, I got married and went from being Ms. Heather Powell to Mrs. Heather Powell Minton. I will answer to either. In May, my husband and I were privileged to add a little boy, Conners Wayne Minton, to our crazy family. We also have two dogs, Kahlua and Heather (yes she is named after me, no I did not name her). As we begin the 2016-17 school year, I hope we have a great one and GO DAWGS!!! Pike County High School is the GREATEST school I know of and I am privileged to be here!
